No problem here with a God of order, but not the Christian god of disorder who suspends order and laws to attend to Perry's personal requests. Plllllllease!

Why Do Atheists Struggle So Much Against God Who Supposedly Doesn't Exist?
by Perry inan athist made this casual statememt on another thread:.
this would suggest to me that there are at least some atheists that do have consistant beliefs.. .
as an atheist, how could he possibly trust the reason that suggests this to himself?

Transparency – windows and a store front like entrance - that passersby will be able to see into
Yep, it's a business. Now they are considering the marketability of kingdom halls. They can ask more money for the commercial like hall than they do for the current windowless ones, which have a limited market, only other religions would be interested.
here’s a $600,000 facility at NO CHARGE - ENJOY!!!!!”
Sure, wait till they hit you with the monthly "rent" and maintenance. Dubs pay all the expenses while the property increases in value. Then kick them out and start all over again.

I don't believe in Jesus, but I hope you are effective in deprogramming at least one JW. I also hope that your religion is not as cultic as that of JW's. Please keep us posted.
From my own experience as a non JW trying to awaken JW's, I can assure you is frustrating. Assuming I have had any progress with my family, I can assure you that it's a slow, very slow process. Prepare for the long haul. You may want to reach to those who are interested, but not in yet. You have better chances there.
The advice you have gotten so far is from people who were in for a long time, they dislike the cult with a vengeance, as I do. Your having the fresh mind of someone who has never been hurt by the WT and your being very interested about helping others makes their advice a bit on the negative side. Ignore it, do as you want. You have nothing to lose except lots of time. But saving one JW from the cult will make it worth it.

Azor,
your venting could reach deeper if you didn't abreviate as much. HLC, ALL, AML??
I googled and found leukemia for ALL and AML. HLC still no good answer. Is it related to a Watchtower committee?
Google again and I found the Hospital Liaison Committee.
Now I understand what you are going through. I am very sorry and I hope your friend is strong enough to put hersefl first and ignore the Watchtower stupidity.

Couple questions....like if JW's not the right way then what is?

Welcome world,
You started with the wrong assumption: That there is a "right" religion. You have lots of research to do on religion, more specifically christianity and judaism. And yes, given your doubts, you obviously have not done enough research about JW's history, doctrines, false prophecies, its leaders. Long journey ahead.
There's a chance that there is a "right religion", but as you research, that chance gets smaller and smaller. Try discovering how small.

Just quit quietly - the law is on your side!
by Ajax infreedon of religion guarantees any individual the legal right to abandon any religion at any time for any reason.. if you are a citizen of a country which champions human rights, then your government doesn t care what religion you join, but they will uphold your freedom to join it, without interference, coercion or persecution.
your countries human rights legislation will conversely uphold your rights when it comes time to abandon any religion you so choose.
those (elders) who incite others interfere, coerce or persecute those who have left will be in transgression of the human rights statutes.. a person is only obligated to ecclesiastic law if he exposes himself to it or transgressed it while still a member of a religious community.. when your time comes to abandon the jw-wt cult, do it while still in good standing, be proactive - be decisive -put it in writing!..and do it before the hounders set sights on you.. write a card or letter with as much or as little explanation as you one day might wish to share with pharisees and lawyers.. take this card to a notary public to have your signature witnessed and have the writing overstamped in several places with the date.

This a case for the court of public opinion. As despicable as the shunning is, I don't think it's a good idea to get the judiciary involved. Just tell the world about the cruelty of some religions. That will put pressure that could bring change or demise.

In my town, Burbank CA, the city counsel denied permission to the Hispanic congregation, so they had to move to Hollywood, few miles away. The strange part is that my wife tells me that the Armenian congregation had their cart in display in Burbank. Is it the color of the skin? Doubt it. Something not quite consistent here.

I think Johnamos makes a good case in favor of the Watchtower policies. The two witness rule is in both the Hebrew and Greek scriptures. My counter arguments would be:
the hell with the Bible's and christian religion's special privileges.
The moral values of the 21st century of most western democracies are more just and compassionate than those found in the Bible. I think the cowards are not people like Johamos, but the governments which cower and give too much latitude to religions to commit injustices that are unacceptable to our modern values.

Chaserious,
Isn't there a criminal element in action here. Obstruction of justice maybe, that seems to be intended to protect the monetary interest of an organization at the expense of the safety of children in the present and even the future. Is it possible that the very palpable refusal of the Watchtower to hand the "pedophiles documents" prompts a criminal investigation in the near future?

Crazy guy,
I will write this comment without looking at my notes from over a year ago, so expect that I may be off by a year or so. Year 568 BCE was the 37th year of Nabuchadnezzar II as registered in the Babylonian astronomical tablet 4956. This tablet contains about 35 astronomical observations about the moon, the 5 visible planets and some intervals between the sunset, moonset, moonrise and sunrise. This tablet is possibly our best document to confirm chronologies of the ancient Near East in the 6th century BCE including the destruction of Jerusalem, which according to the Bible happened in the 18th or 19th year of Nebuchadnezzar II (I may be slightly off). If you do the math, move back from 37th year of Neb II (568 BCE) in tablet 4956 to 18th or 19th year of Neb II (Bible date for the destruction of Jerusalem) and you arrive at 587/586 BCE.
As someone who had spent countless hours doing this research, I can assure you that there's no way that the accepted chronology is wrong and definitely not only is the Watchtower wrong, but they know it too, and therefore are lying.
